This weekend will mark Everton’s first match since their unprecedented 10-point deduction as they host Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon (1630 GMT).

In all fairness, if you’re going to hand out point deductions, it’s Manchester United who should be on the top of that list.

We’re not saying they broke any rules, but when a club spends £608m across the last five years and doesn’t get a sniff at the title – come on, that’s a bit embarrassing.

Talk of a title charge is still far beyond United’s reach. The team spent most of this season languishing in the middle of the standings.

Erik ten Hag’s men miraculously picked up four wins from their last five Premier League outings and currently sit sixth.

But don’t be fooled by results, United have been woeful.

Scott McTominay came to their rescue with two stoppage time goals in a 2-1 win over Brentford. Diogo Dalot bagged one from distance to seal a narrow 2-1 win over Sheffield United.

Then, of course, United enjoyed 1-0 victories over the Premier League’s powerhouses in the form of Fulham and Luton.

Everton, who are on a four-match unbeaten run across all competitions, should feel optimistic ahead of United’s visit.

The match is at Goodison Park, the Toffees are in good form and a great atmosphere is expected as the fans attempt to rally following the point deduction.

With that in mind, we’re backing Sean Dyche and his men to walk away victorious.

Everton to win by a one goal margin is the way to go in what should be a closely-fought encounter.

    Team news

Dele Alli and Andre Gomes will be out of action for Everton. Seamus Coleman and Amadou Onana could join them on the sidelines.

United’s absentee list is far longer. Casemiro, Amad Diallo, Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez are all injured. Jadon Sancho, meanwhile, remains suspended.

There are also doubts over Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, Facundo Pellistri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
