England made it six wins from seven games in their Euro 2024 qualifying group following a 2-0 victory over Malta at Wembley.

An own goal from Enrico Pepe and Harry Kane's second-half strike sealed yet another win for England in this ongoing qualifying campaign.

Here are the all-important player ratings from a forgettable night in the capital.

JORDAN PICKFORD: Largely untroubled night for Gareth Southgate’s long-term number one. 5 (out of 10).

KIERAN TRIPPIER: Switched from right-back to left at half-time but did not have the sort of impact going forward he would have liked. 5.

MARC GUEHI: Now appears to be first in line whenever Harry Maguire or John Stones are absent and has now played in four of the last five England games. 5.

HARRY MAGUIRE: A tougher night than the Manchester Untied defender would have expected. 5.

FIKAYO TOMORI: Operated at left-back but struggled and was booked before coming off at the interval. 4.

JORDAN HENDERSON: Most noticeable part of the evening was the jeers that greeted the vice-captain when he was substituted as some fans continue to oppose his Saudi Arabia move. 5.

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD: Shone in midfield in the reverse fixture but failed to have a similar showing here. 4.

CONOR GALLAGHER: A couple of early errors meant the Chelsea midfielder missed an opportunity to show Southgate what he can do and he was also hauled off at the interval. 4.

PHIL FODEN: A bright spark on occasion and his run and cross led to the early own goal. 5.

MARCUS RASHFORD: A blunt performance off the left for the out-of-sorts United forward. 4.

HARRY KANE: Harshly booked for what the referee deemed a first-half dive – which should have been a penalty – but finally got on the scoresheet late on. 6.

    SUBS

BUKAYO SAKA (for Tomori, 46): Added more oomph to the performance and set up Kane for the second goal. 6.

KYLE WALKER (for Gallagher, 46): Southgate’s elder statesman came on in the defensive reshuffle and did manager to push forward. 5.

DECLAN RICE (for Henderson, 60): Thought he had wrapped up the win with a fine goal that was ruled out following a VAR check for offside. 6.

COLE PALMER (for Rashford, 60): On for his senior England debut but struggled to get into the game and will be hoping for another chance in North Macedonia on Monday. 5.
