England will play friendly fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina and then Iceland before heading to Euro 2024 in Germany, the FA has announced.

The Three Lions will face Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time on June 3 at Newcastle’s St James’ Park and then take on Iceland at Wembley on June 7.

Gareth Southgate will look to fine-tune his squad before their opening Euro 2024 group fixture against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on June 16.

Southgate said of the warm-up matches: “We’re really looking forward to taking the team back to the North East and to a city that is synonymous with football in this country.

“We will follow that with another special occasion at Wembley allowing our fans the opportunity to give us a final send off before we head to Germany for another exciting summer.

“Both opponents in June are sure to provide stiff competition and play an important part in our preparation for the tournament.”

The game against Bosnia and Herzegovina will be the first time England’s men have appeared at St James’ Park since a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan in 2005.

Bosnia and Herzegovina along with Iceland are hoping to qualify for Euro 2024 via the play-offs, which start in March.
