Champions League chasing Chelsea welcome newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool to Stamford Bridge this Sunday evening for a classic English fixture (1630 BST).

Chelsea and Liverpool have been through wars in the past, though Sunday’s encounter doesn’t appear to be heading in that same direction.

The Reds have already crossed the finishing line and taken care of their business, meaning Arne Slot’s men have no real reason to fire on all cylinders.

The same cannot be said about Chelsea. The Blues are in the thick of a thrilling Champions League race – one which separates third-placed Man City and seventh-placed Aston Villa by just four points.

The Blues are right in the thick of that pack but need a strong end to the season in order to ensure their spot in the top five.

Thankfully for the Chelsea faithful, their team are beginning to peak at just the right time.

Enzo Maresca’s side are on a three-match winning run, including a 4-1 demolition of Djurgarden in the Conference League semi-final last Thursday.

Winning a European trophy and qualifying for next season’s Champions League would mark a strong maiden campaign for Maresca who has been tasked with a difficult job of taking the club back to their glory days.

While Maresca is on course for a strong debut season at Stamford Bridge, he hasn’t quite matched the levels of Slot. The Dutchman became just the fifth manager in Premier League history to win the title in just his first season in charge.

It can be said that Slot took advantage of the most uncompetitive season in years, but then again, that is not his fault.

The big challenge for the Liverpool manager will come over the summer as he looks to put his own stamp on what still remains a Klopp-heavy team.

Chelsea might be winless against Liverpool in 10 meetings, but considering the context of Sunday’s game, we expect that to change.

The Blues have no choice but to go hell for leather in order to get all three points and keep their Champions League ambitions alive.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have just accomplished their big goal of the year and have no motivations other than pride.

Chelsea to win the match and score first are the two opening tips of our bet builder. We’re also throwing in both teams to score, considering that bet has landed in their last three Premier League encounters.

Lastly, we like the look of Nicolas Jackson to have 1+ shots on target. The 23-year-old has scored three goals in his last two Chelsea outings and is expected to pose Liverpool’s defence a lot of problems.
