Chelsea agree £47.5m fee for Manchester City and England star Raheem Sterling

Chelsea are set to splash almost £50million on Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling after reaching a deal with the Premier League champions.

The player has already agreed personal terms with the Blues and official conformation of the deal is imminent.

Sterling had entered the final year of his contract at Man City and was linked with a move away from the club for a number of weeks.

The player arrived at the Etihad in 2015 from Liverpool for an initial fee of £44million.
He has since made 339 appearances for the club, and scored 131 goals across all competitions.
During his time in Manchester, Sterling won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups and one Community Shield.
The one major crown eluding the forward is the Champions League after the Citizens fell to a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea in the 2021 final.
Sterling is now set to join the Blues after topping Thomas Tuchel's list of targets.
Business has been slow at Stamford Bridge following a flurry of changes at the top of the club.
Since Todd Boehly's takeover, a number of key figures have departed, leaving the new co-owner in charge of summer dealings.
Nevertheless, Sterling is now set to become Chelsea's first signing of the window and the first of Boehly's era at Stamford Bridge.
