Mateo Klimowicz heads off on-loan to Mexico from VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart midfielder Mateo Klimowicz has been loaned out to Mexican side Atletico San Luis until 31 December 2023.

The 22-year-old initially joined Stuttgart in 2019 for 1.7 million Euros from Instituto AC Córdoba in Argentina, then was loaned to Arminia Bielefeld in September 2022 but only made five appearances before his deal was terminated in December.
Stuttgart have confirmed via sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth that Klimowicz will be heading off to Mexico until the end of 2023.
Klimowicz's current contract with VfB runs until 2025.
"For Mateo, it was mainly about getting competitive match practice," Wohlgemuth said.
"We found a very good solution with Atlético San Luis. We're convinced that Mateo will quickly settle there and will be given the opportunity to take another important step in his development.
"We wish him all the best and every success on this path," Wohlgemuth added.
Mexican side Atletico San Luis confirmed Klimowicz signing via social media: "Landing from Germany our sixth reinforcement! Mateo Klimowicz is a new player for Atlético de San Luis. Welcome, Mateo!"
The young midfielder has also been capped for the German U-21 national side.
