Brazil head coach Tite reveals why he's ‘not that nervous’ ahead of World Cup opener with Serbia

Brazil have struggled to make a significant impact in recent tournaments, bowing out at the quarter-final stage in three of the last four editions of the FIFA World Cup.

Four years ago in Russia, Tite's men were knocked out by Belgium in the last-eight, though the head coach believes he has now had enough time with the squad.

"In Russia we only had two years to fix the team and I came to the rescue," said the 61-year-old in his press conference. "Now is different because I had the opportunity the build the team the way I wanted.

"That's why my feeling today is completely different than four years ago. I'm not that nervous because all the work has been done."

Brazil are regarded by many as favourites to go all the way in Qatar and claim a historic sixth crown.

When asked about dealing with expectations, Tite said: "The pressure is natural. Brazil have the biggest history in soccer and with that legacy always comes the pressure.

"We have some of the players that call the biggest media attention in the world so we take it naturally, it's our dream winning a World Cup. Pressure is inevitable."

Tite has a star-studded squad at his disposal, though when it came to team news, the head coach kept his cards close to his chest.

"We have three models and we will adapt accordingly regarding each opponent that we face," he said. "All the players know that and are aware.

"Me as a coach, I need to have the capacity to potentialize the best characteristics of each player.

"Vinicius is one of the players up-front that have made their cases playing at the highest level with their clubs. They were the one who call themselves upon. Now is my job to fit them in my scheme."
