Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman emerges as potential Barcelona target

Hansi Flick's return to coaching after sealing his deal with FC Barcelona is aimed at bolstering the team amid the club's financial woes.

Bringing in new players might be challenging, but the German, in collaboration with Deco, aims to enhance the current squad.

One unexpected market option that could emerge is to strengthen the left-wing position. Raphinha and Joao Felix, the two players who have primarily occupied this role, have uncertain futures at the club, prompting Barcelona to consider alternative profiles.

In this regard, L'Equipe have hinted that Bayern Munich might consider transferring Kingsley Coman. The Bavarian team are set on a major squad overhaul with Vincent Kompany's arrival as coach, and the French winger could be one of the players to depart.

Coman, valued at around €50 million, was a pivotal player for Hansi Flick in 2020, he won six trophies with Bayern, including the Bundesliga and Champions League. En route to securing the latter, they defeated Barcelona 8-2. His presence was crucial, highlighted by his goal in the 2020 Champions League final, securing victory over PSG in Lisbon.

The Frenchman is a rapid forward, versatile on the left, and at 27, still has much to offer. However, Bayern's view on his continuity is unclear, compounded by recent injuries.

Flick maintained an excellent relationship with Coman, as with the rest of the squad, which could play in Barcelona's favour if they pursue the player. The coach's persuasive power is significant due to his communicative nature, and players feel comfortable working under him, despite high demands.

Should Barcelona pursue Coman, player transfers would be necessary. Ronald Araujo, highly regarded in Munich, could be considered for a swap deal, potentially benefiting Barcelona as Araujo's value is estimated at around €80 million.

Funds could also come from other players, notably Raphinha, who has garnered interest in England after his stint with Leeds United and his improved performance in the latter part of the season at Barcelona.

This option might also hinder Joao Felix's loan extension. While Barcelona would prefer to retain the Portuguese player on loan for another season, Atletico Madrid favour a permanent transfer, with Manchester United reportedly showing interest.
