Bayern Munich reportedly withdraw from race to sign Napoli's Victor Osimhen

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have abandoned their plans to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Bayern Munich have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The 24-year-old has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 22 goals in 27 league appearances and five goals in six Champions League outings. Osimhen's 22nd Serie A strike in the 1-1 draw at Udinese on Thursday helped Napoli clinch the club's first top-flight title in 33 years. Osimhen's impressive form has attracted the attention of several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite being closely monitored by Bayern Munich, they have decided against pursuing Osimhen, according the German publication Sport Bild, due to his £100million price tag. Bayern are expected to prioritize the addition of a new centre-forward ahead of the 2023-24 season after failing to replace Robert Lewandowski, who left and joined Barcelona in 2022.
The decision by Bayern to pull out of the race for Osimhen's signature has provided a boost for Man Utd, Chelsea, and PSG. Recent reports claim that both United and Chelsea are leading the race to sign the Nigerian striker this summer.
United coach Erik ten Hag is reportedly looking to sign a new centre-forward as Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst is expected to return to his parent club at the end of the season. The Red Devils are also said to be considering Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani as possible targets.
Chelsea are set to offload several fringe players to generate funds and will likely prioritize signing a new striker this summer. The Blues have scored just 31 goals in 33 Premier League games this season, and their struggles in front of goal have left them in need of reinforcements.
PSG are also believed to be in the market for attacking reinforcements, with Lionel Messi set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Bayern's decision to pull out of the race for Osimhen's signature has provided a boost for other top European clubs who are looking to sign the Nigerian striker this summer. Man Utd, Chelsea, and PSG are all said to be interested in the player, who has been in exceptional form this season.
