FC Barcelona reportedly target securing the contract of winger Ousmane Dembele

FC Barcelona, one of the powerhouses in La Liga, have set their sights on securing winger Ousmane Dembele's contract renewal as a top priority this summer.

Ousmane Dembele's contract renewal has become a key objective for La Liga giants FC Barcelona this summer.
The Catalan club is actively working on extending the player's contract until 2027, along with an improved release clause, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.
Under the current contract, Dembele's release clause has dropped from €100 million to €50 million. However, Barcelona are eager to strengthen the terms of the contract and ensure the player's future at Camp Nou.
Fortunately, Dembele feels content and valued under the guidance of Xavi Hernandez. He has no intention of leaving the club and enjoys the full support of the coaching staff.
When Dembele joined Barcelona in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund, where he played under the guidance of coach Thomas Tuchel, expectations were sky-high due to his impressive performances and hefty price tag.
However, his time at Barcelona has been a mixed bag, mainly due to persistent injuries that have hindered his progress. These setbacks have prevented him from showcasing consistent form, despite his undeniable talent.
Nevertheless, since Xavi Hernandez took charge as the head coach of FC Barcelona, the 26-year-old winger has undergone a remarkable transformation in terms of both physical fitness and tactical understanding.
His growth both on and off the ball is evident, marking a significant improvement. Now regarded as one of Europe's most formidable wingers, Dembele has finally found his stride under the guidance of the ex-Barcelona legend and current coach.
Reportedly, Barcelona have already submitted their initial offer to extend Dembele's contract until 2027, and if recent reports are accurate, the player is keen to accept. He has no interest in joining any other club, even if they are willing to activate his €50 million release clause this summer.
Last season, Dembele contributed 13 assists under Xavi's tutelage, in addition to scoring five goals and providing six assists in La Liga. These statistics highlight his progress, particularly considering Xavi's utilization of Dembele beyond direct goal involvements.
His ability to stretch the pitch, outmanoeuvre defenders, and succeed in one-on-one situations perfectly aligns with Xavi's vision of an ideal winger.
