Arsenal news: Gabriel Jesus rejects ‘superstar’ tag after bagging brace in pre-season debut

Gabriel Jesus has left many Arsenal fans excited ahead of the upcoming campaign after bagging two goals in a pre-season victory over FC Nurnberg.

The Gunners signed the Brazil international for £45million from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Jesus made a good first impression with the Arsenal faithful after scoring just 90 seconds into his debut for the Mikel Arteta's men.

The 25-year-old later bagged a second goal as he helped his side to a 5-3 win away in Germany.
Despite his impressive start, Jesus insisted he has no desire in becoming the team's star attraction.
After the match, he said: "I don't want to be a superstar. I just want to play football, go on the pitch and help my team-mates, like a family.
"We have to do what we do together. Everything. Outside the pitch and on it. I'm not here to be the man, I'm here to help, to learn with these guys and to win together."

Jesus arrived in the Premier League during the 2016/17 season and featured prominently in Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side.

However, with the English champions bringing in the likes of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, it became apparent that Jesus may have limited playing opportunities in the forthcoming season.
Arsenal, who needed to fill the attacking void left by the departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, swooped in on the Brazilian in the hope of sharpening their offensive output.
