Nathan Young-Coombes Profile
|Born||Jul 01, 2003|
Nathan Young-Coombes massively impressed during his time in Scotland and has earned himself a move to Premier League Brentford.
Nathan Young-Coombes is an English professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Premier League side Brentford.
Now, the forward finds himself in the ranks at Brentford as he attempts to achieve a place in the starting XI.
Impressive displays at Rangers
Young-Coombes signed for Rangers under-18s in February 2019, arriving there from Chelsea's youth academy.
For the rest of the 2018/19 campaign, the forward played within the youth squads. Young-Coombes' highlight of the year would be his winning goal in the Scottish Youth Cup final.
After going 2-0 up, Rangers found themselves level again against rivals Celtic. However, Young-Coombes' glancing header towards goal found the back of the net to win his first piece of silverware.
Due to his impressive performances that year, the forward was promoted to the reserves in July 2020.
In this campaign, Young-Coombes would truly make a name for himself. He made his debut for Rangers reserves in their third round Challenge Cup fixture against Ballymena - Young-Coombes featured for the final six minutes.
From then he would make his first start for the under-18s in the UEFA Youth League during a first round 3-3 draw to Young Boys. His first half equaliser in the second leg however would turn out to be crucial as Rangers went on to win on away goals, drawing 2-2 in the reverse fixture at The Ibrox.
A further three goals for Young-Coombes were to come in both legs of the second round fixture against Slovan Bratislava, with his side going through 4-1 on aggregate.
However, the forward could not come to his side's aid against Atletico Madrid as they were knocked out through a 4-0 defeat.
Young-Coombes and Rangers reserves would continue their Challenge Cup campaign in good form, progressing to the semi-final thanks to a Young-Coombes goal, securing a 2-0 win over Wrexham.
However, once more, Rangers and Young-Coombes could not reach the final as they lost out to Inverness CT, facing a narrow 2-1 defeat.
In the following 2020/21 campaign, Young-Coombes continued his scoring streak, netting against Brechin City, Queen's Park and East Stirlingshire before the league was again halted due to COVID-19.
Despite Rangers' reserves and under-18s failing to achieve silverware, as well as a lack of game time in 2020/21, Young-Coombes made a magnificent effort during his first full season, and it seemed his form caught the eye of Premier League newcomers Brentford.
Premier League dreams
In July 2021, Young-Coombes moved from Scotland to England as he transferred to Brentford on a three-year deal.
After being let go by Crystal Palace and Chelsea, the Englishman is now back in top flight and looking to prove himself.
He has yet to make a start for the first team, but he is thriving for the B team. On his debut for the Bees, he netted his first goal for the club, rounding off a 3-1 win over Cambridge United.
From his impressive debut, Young-Coombes has scored another seven times under MacFarlane as he continues to work for a first team start.
As he comes from a mixed-heritage background, Young-Coombes made a stand for Black Lives Matter during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nathan Young-Coombes' net worth is reported be £200,000.
