Premier League tips: Which goalkeeper will claim the most clean sheets?

David Raya

The Premier League is home to some of the best goalkeeepers on the planet.

Goalkeepers in England are tasked with stopping top strikers including Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins from finding the back of the net.

The 2024/25 campaign will again see the men between the sticks pulling off world class saves and frustrating attackers at both ends of the table.

So, which goalkeeper will record the most clean sheets this season and earn the Premier League Golden Glove?

Assessing each player and making a prediction via a platform found at UK betting sites can add an extra thrill to the excitement of watching the big game.

So who are the favourites for the clean sheet award at the end of the 2024/25 season?

David Raya (Arsenal)

The Gunners stopper tallied an incredible 16 clean sheets during the last campaign, more than any other player. This saw him earn the Golden Glove award and huge recognition from players and fans alike.

Raya's performances where a major reason for the team's successive title chase as Mikel Arteta's men pushed Manchester City all the way to the final day of the season.

What's more, the former Brentford man had to content with question marks around his initial inclusion after he was selected to start ahead of previous number one Aaron Ramsdale.

However, the Spaniard more than proved himself and soon any uncertainty about his role in the side disappeared.

Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Pickford has been named Everton's Player of the Season in four of his seven years at Goodison Park, continually earning the Toffees points.

Firstly helping the side challenge for Europe before making saves to ensure the club didn't drop out of the top-flight for the first time in seven decades.

The England international has excelled for club and country consistently and now, having turned 30 this year, is entering his goalkeeping prime.

Last campaign, Pickford earned 13 clean sheets and one of the main factors in keeping Sean Dyche's side in the Premier League.

Ederson (Man City)

It's no surprise that the man between the sticks for the champions is among the names being tipped to earn the most clean sheets this upcoming season.

Manchester City's Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson often doesn't have much to do, but for that reason his concentration levels and reflexes have to be even more on point.

Regarded more for his ability with the ball at his feet, able to play out the back or go long to Haaland with stunning accuracy, the former Benfica stopper is also one of the best keepers on the planet, capable of making stunning saves and stops that earn his side victories.

Alisson Becker (Liverpool)

The Liverpool goalkeeper has kept a total of 86 clean sheets since first moving to Anfield from Roma in 2018.

With Virgil van Dijk in front of him, the duo have formed a strong relationship at the back for the Reds and formed a strong foundation during the Jurgen Klopp era.

Now gearing up for a first season under new boss Arne Slot, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be as solid. But no matter the set up, Alisson is a good shout when it comes to naming the stoppers that will keep the ball out of the back of the net.

Andre Onana (Manchester United)

Andre Onana may have conceded 58 goals during his maiden campaign in England though he did record nine clean sheets and enters his second season with greater experience and know-how.

What's more, the Manchester United goalkeeper has also seen the defence ahead of him strengthened with the capture of Netherlands international Matthijs De Ligt.

Though Onana may not be the number one keeper in the Premier League, the Red Devils will hope to be more solid this campaign and so the stopper earning a number of clean sheets heading into double figures isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa)

The World Cup winner for Argentina played a major role in helping Unai Emery's Aston Villa qualify for the Champions League for the first time in more than 40 years.

Now taking on the top players in Europe, Martinez will not be fazed in the slightest having already proved his credentials on the biggest stage.

When it comes to the Premier League, Martinez, who moved to Villa Park from Arsenal in 2020, is among the most reliable keepers in England. He gives his team confidence and with him in goal Villa have a great chance of building on last season's success and qualifying for Europe again.

Bernd Leno (Fulham)

Another former Arsenal goalkeeper, the German recorded the third best tally for clean sheets last season, ensuring Fulham shut out the opposition in ten Premier League matches.

Entering his third season at Craven Cottage, the number one spot is his and he can use the faith shown in him from manager Marco Silva to enjoy a consistent run and increase his overall clean sheet record.

Wrapping up

The 2024/25 Premier League campaign is set to provide plenty of excitement and goals though keepers will be determined to keep the scores down and ensure they boost their own clean sheet count. From David Raya and Jordan Pickford to Alisson Becker and Emiliano Martinez, the English top-flight boasts some of the best stoppers in the game.
