Super League: Leigh Leopards boss Adrian Lam vows his side 'can match anyone' after Catalans win

Adrian Lam Head coach of Leigh Leopards

Leigh boss Adrian Lam hailed his side’s 10-2 victory against Catalans Dragons as their most important result of the season after a tough battle in Perpignan, France.

Tom Amone bagged the only try of the match with Matt Moylan kicking three goals, while Arthur Mourgue slotted a single penalty for the French side.

“We had a tough start to the season but we’re working hard to turn it around and results like this show that we can match anyone,” said Lam after the contest.

“This was the biggest game of the season for us and we delivered.”

Following a scrappy opening quarter, Dragons full-back Mourgue got the scoreboard moving before Moylan responded.

Amone forced his way over from short range for an 8-2 half-time lead and Moylan kicked a 54th-minute penalty to complete the scoring.

“It’s definitely the most important win of the season so far in terms of where we sit on the ladder,” added Lam.

“We’ve played a lot of games this year with a lot of effort, where we should have won but we didn’t.

“After this, we need to be turning every game into two points, it was an excellent start to the second half of the season for us tonight.

“We’re not getting carried away, it’s just two points, so we’ll take it week to week but we’ve got some bodies coming back soon which will make the squad much healthier and puts us in an even stronger position.

“It’s about trying to build some momentum as a group to climb the ladder. We’ve only lost one in the last six or seven weeks so we’re going the right way.”
