The 2025 Betfred World Matchplay begins on Saturday, July 19, at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, with 32 of the world’s best players battling it out for the £200,000 top prize.
This year’s tournament runs through to Sunday, July 27 and features the return of several past champions, a blockbuster Dutch derby and the latest chapter in the rise of Luke Littler.
The field was confirmed earlier this week, with 2019 runner-up Michael Smith the most notable absentee after failing to qualify. Last year’s semi-finalist missed out after falling short on the one-year Order of Merit.
Where to watch
Every session will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports UHD and Sky Sports+. Afternoon sessions begin at 13:00 BST, while evening sessions start at 19:00.

First-round highlights
Luke Humphries begins his title defence on opening night against World Youth Champion Gian van Veen. Humphries, seeded first, lifted the Phil Taylor Trophy for the first time last year and starts as second-favourite behind Luke Littler.
World Champion Littler opens against Ryan Searle in Sunday night’s final match. The 17-year-old has yet to win this title but is favourite at 7/4 to do so.
The headline clash sees Michael van Gerwen take on Raymond van Barneveld in a Monday night meeting between two of the sport’s most iconic figures. MVG, a three-time Matchplay champion, comes in at 16/1 in the outright market, with Barney a 150/1 outsider.
Other notable ties include Jonny Clayton v Martin Schindler, Rob Cross v Dirk van Duijvenbode and Dave Chisnall v Mike De Decker. James Wade marks his 20th consecutive appearance with a first-round match against Joe Cullen.
