Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo, who recently made a triumphant return to Formula 1 with AlphaTauri, has responded to rumours suggesting he might rejoin Red Bull next season.
Ricciardo's journey this year has been a rollercoaster ride, and his performance in Mexico stirred speculation about his future. While the possibility of a Red Bull return looms, Ricciardo remains steadfast in his commitment to AlphaTauri.
Ricciardo's comeback to the grid began earlier this season after a brief hiatus due to a hand injury. His return was nothing short of sensational, as he clinched seventh place in the Mexican Grand Prix, securing AlphaTauri's best result in 2023. Despite the recent success, Ricciardo's contractual ties with AlphaTauri, alongside teammate Yuki Tsunoda, seem to be intact.
On the other side of the paddock, Sergio Perez, Red Bull's current driver, has faced challenges throughout the year. This has led to speculation that Red Bull might consider bringing back Ricciardo, who previously raced for the team from 2014 to 2018. When questioned about the rumours, Ricciardo made his priorities clear.
"All the stuff around my contract next year has been related to AlphaTauri," he stated firmly to media. "I would say that's honestly as far as that goes."
Ricciardo's stellar performance in Mexico not only boosted his individual standings but also had a positive impact on AlphaTauri's championship fight. The team, which had languished at the bottom of the standings for most of the season, now stand eighth after leaping two places in the span of two weekends. Ricciardo expressed his satisfaction with these recent developments.
"For me personally, having a weekend like Mexico is just definitely good for the soul," he said, reflecting on his achievement. "And also for the team, I haven't been here long, but for them to be 10th in the Constructors Championship and to jump two places in the space of two weekends was huge."
The Australian driver acknowledged the positive atmosphere within the team. "I think that kind of creates a very happy atmosphere around everyone. I'm happy doing that and [will] try to just keep charging on where I am."
As the Formula 1 season progresses, fans can look forward to the upcoming Sao Paulo Grand Prix, featuring a Sprint Race from November 3-5. The event is set to unfold at the iconic Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil, with 71 laps of exhilarating racing action.
While the speculations about Ricciardo's future continue to swirl, his dedication to AlphaTauri remains unwavering. His commitment to the team's ongoing success is evident, making him a driver to watch in the exciting world of Formula 1.
