Daniel Ricciardo has ignited hope within the AlphaTauri camp by setting his sights on overtaking Williams in the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship.

Following a seventh-place finish at the Mexico City Grand Prix, Ricciardo's unwavering determination has propelled AlphaTauri from the depths of the standings to a promising eighth position, just 12 points behind Williams.

The battle between these two teams carries immense significance, as it promises substantial end-of-year payouts, amounting to several million dollars for the victor. Ricciardo's exceptional performance in Mexico has added an extra layer of excitement to this rivalry.

Notably, Ricciardo's teammate Yuki Tsunoda displayed a similar determination to finish in the points before a dramatic encounter with McLaren's Oscar Piastri disrupted his momentum. Despite the setback, the AlphaTauri team remain resolute in their pursuit of a higher position in the Constructors' Championship.

When asked about their prospects of chasing down Williams, Ricciardo exuded confidence, stating, “If this weekend continues, absolutely." He further analysed the upcoming challenges, considering the unique characteristics of each track. With a keen eye on the Brazilian Grand Prix, he remarked, “It's hard to know. Brazil is a very different track but it's similar, It's still at altitude, you still run pretty high downforce. Maybe it could help us. Let's see."

The unpredictability of the sport adds to the intrigue, and Ricciardo remained cautiously optimistic about their chances, saying, "Vegas, who knows. A lot of long straights, so we got to be a little more slippery than we normally are. But I think for Brazil next week, we could be okay."

Ricciardo's stellar performance in Mexico City marked a remarkable comeback for the Australian driver, who endured a mid-season injury that briefly sidelined him. However, his recent display of skill and determination reaffirmed his prowess in Formula 1. He acknowledged that despite the success, there were areas to improve, emphasizing that he was ready for the challenge, stating, “It's funny, you can never guarantee a good weekend but I'm not surprised we had a good weekend."

Furthermore, Ricciardo attributed his success to the team's strategic choices in configuring the car setup. He acknowledged that these changes allowed him to drive with increased confidence, saying, “I was just ready for it. And I think the direction we went with the setup, I knew it would allow me to just have a bit more confidence with the car. I'm happy there's still some things to get out of it."

Ricciardo's overall contentment with the weekend's performance, despite identifying areas for improvement, reflected his determination and commitment to pushing the boundaries of his capabilities. He noted, “Even in the race my first sector was a little average. I wasn't very consistent through the chicane. So for sure some things I can still improve on but overall, I was very, very happy with the weekend."

As the Formula 1 season unfolds, fans can anticipate an intense showdown between AlphaTauri and Williams, making the Constructors' Championship battle a captivating spectacle. The next race on the calendar is the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, featuring a Sprint Race, which is scheduled for the weekend of 3-5 November. The Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil will host the action-packed event, with 71 laps of thrilling Formula 1 racing awaiting fans and competitors alike.
