PFL Europe Exclusive: Connor Hughes determined to uphold family legacy and ‘put the name on the map’

Connor Hughes will make his PFL Europe debut against Dylan Tuke in Berlin.

Connor Hughes will put his unbeaten record on the line when he kicks off his PFL Europe campaign against Dylan Tuke on July 8.

The Liverpool-based fighter is part of the lightweight tournament which offers $100,000 for the winner, as well as a spot on the main PFL roster in the United States.
Hughes, who boasts a 7-0 pro MMA record, arrives in PFL Europe with a wealth of fighting experience under his belt.
The 25-year-old is a former kickboxing world champion and has also enjoyed an extensive amateur MMA career.
As well as his own reputation in the fighting game, Hughes is also looking to uphold the legacy of his family.

When asked what drives him to success in the sport, Hughes told Planet Sport: "It's legacy for me. My family have done it for so long, I'm the third generation.

"It was my grandad, my mum, my uncle and now me. I think combined, there's over a hundred years of experience there.
"We've been involved in martial arts for so long, they haven't got the recognition they deserve. The story hasn't been told. I want to put the name on the map.
"This isn't just about winning money or winning a belt. This is about my legacy, the Hughes legacy. That's my motivation."
Since turning professional in the summer of 2021, Hughes has won six of his last seven fights by stoppage.

The Liverpool fighter admitted he now wants to inspire the next generation of fighters from his city.

He said: "I'm a young kid from Liverpool. I want to prove to people that it's literally down to you. If you want something and you work hard towards it, it doesn't matter who you are or where you're from, you can do it. Things are possible.
"It's legacy. It's obviously wanting to be a world champion. Also go down as one of the best to ever do it. But I'm [also] looking to inspire people. To show that things are possible. I've got three baby brothers looking up to me as well as the rest of my family."
PFL Europe 2 will take place on July 8 in Berlin. Fans will be able to follow the action unfold on DAZN.
