Cheltenham Festival 2023: Magners Plate tips - Il Ridoto and Frere Banbou catch the eye

The inevitable comedown after the day’s feature race is offset by the Magners Plate Handicap Chase offering a big competitive field with plenty of betting options up for grabs for the knowing eye.
The Plate is one of the longest-surviving annual renewals, with over 70 runnings culminating in 22/1 shot Coole Cody making the bookies happy 12 months ago.
Last year's winner looks likely to go off at a similar price, but higher up the market Il Ridoto is a popular pick among Tipstrr's pundits.
The way this six-year-old powered home to beat the reopposing Fugitif by a length on this track in January probably explains why he is vying for the favourite tag with So Scottish and Haute En Couleurs.
Top tip: Il Ridoto
Pick of the middle market options is Frere Banbou, who carries an attractive double-digit price that looks even more appealing given that bookmakers are paying out on five, six and even seven each-way places.
He's well down the weights under Charlie Deutsch and although not yet tested over this distance, he has been shaping up as if he would relish a longer trip.
