Wolverhampton top racing tip: Strong bid expected from Blue Collar Lad

With Saturday’s 16/1 winner still fresh in the memory, Tipstrr racing pundit Steve Jones hopes to kick off the new week in similar fashion with his best bet from Wolverhampton’s all-weather meeting.
17:25 Wolverhampton: BetMGM: It’s Showtime Handicap (7 furlongs 36 yards)
Rossa Ryan rides only rarely for Robyn Brisland (only three times since the start of last year), so his booking, on a track at which he rides particularly well (21% strike rate from 175 rides last year), looks significant, especially as Blue Collar Lad has just recently demonstrated that he has all the credentials to win this race.
On his penultimate outing, just last month, he contested a handicap over this course and distance that was stronger than today’s event, featuring five runners rated 59-61, comparing very favourably with today’s contest in which none of his rivals are rated higher than 55.

Starting smartly from an unfavourable wide draw, he was soon very prominent, and he remained in the first two the whole way until finally being overhauled well inside the final furlong and finishing second of 10 behind a 59-rated winner, Swinging Eddie, who is now rated 62.
Racing from a much kinder stall 3 today, which will suit his preferred prominent style, Blue Collar Boy would be in with a very good chance indeed if here to repeat that recent performance against this lesser opposition
With plenty going for him in this weaker looking race today, those prospects are boosted even further by the strong booking of Ryan, who has ridden almost as many winners in the last two weeks as all of his rival jockeys put together.
Suggested best bet: Blue Collar Lad in the 17:25 at Wolverhampton

Of the others, previous course winner Evasive Power is a big player provided he can overcome the widest draw of all in stall 12.
He arrives on the back of a good run at Lingfield , where enjoyed anything but a clear run at the top of the home straight and had to be switched to the outside before finishing never nearer third of 10, strongly suggesting that an extra furlong wouldn’t go amiss.
He is 2lbs lower than for his latest turf success last September and is also 3lbs lower than for his last all-weather win, so he is attractively treated with Kieran Shoemark having won on him before.
Next Best bet: Evasive Power in the 17:25 at Wolverhampton
