Wolverhampton racing tip: Angel Of Peace ready to shine on stable debut

Of the dozen starters, Girl From Italy is warmly fancied to complete her hat-trick after impressive recent successes at Newcastle and Wolverhampton, although she is currently jostling for the favourite mantle with fellow course-distance winner Voltaic, who was runner-up to her rival here a week ago.

While they resume their rivalry, they would do well not to ignore the challenge of the well-supported Rich Waters, who is winless in 18 outings but could prove to be an interesting prospect now significantly up in trip.

With four places available in places, there are each-way hopes for the likes of Havana Goldrush and Kodebreaker, but one runner in with a real shout of gatecrashing the market leaders’ party is the promising young filly, Angel of Peace.

Three back-to-back frame finishes in mid-summer gave a glimpse of this three-year-old’s potential, and that was quickly confirmed when landing a 13-runner handicap at Chelmsford in late September.

Despite finishing sixth of 13 on her last outing seven weeks ago at the same venue, she was barely one and a half lengths behind the winner, and the five that beat her were all rated higher than any in this lower-class 0-60 line-up.

She has since left Ed Walker to join the stable of Mark Loughnane, which seems a very interesting development (or coincidence) as Angel Of Peace was ridden by Mark’s son, Billy, on each of those last eye-catching outings.

With both stable and jockey in good form (Billy piloted his last ride on Friday to victory at Southwell), connections will be optimistic of at least a frame finish for this progressive filly.
