Wolverhampton racing tip: Market leaders should look out for Black Smoke

Scale Force ridden by George Rooke wins the Betway Selling Handicap at Wolverhampton Racecourse.
With plenty of capable performers contesting this competitive handicap, the word in the Tipstrr camp is that one of the outsiders could be ready to make an impact from beneath the bookies' radar.

The mid-morning withdrawal of the strongly-fancied Sun Festival has had the obvious dual effect of nudging the remaining nine runners up a rung on the betting ladder, as well as potentially opening up an extra place for those with each-way aspirations.
Swing To The Stars was already a well-backed market leader, and the absence of Sun Festival has firmed up his favourite’s price to just better than even money, which is perhaps a little too short for a horse making his debut on this particular surface.
Second-favourite My Roxanne arguably carries better value on the strength of her three wins in 11 starts this year, including a career-best success in a 11-runner handicap at Newcastle a week ago, while Caracristi's capabilities should also not be dismissed too quickly.

Lower down the market Grafitti seems worthy of consideration if we look beyond her three most recent forays over obstacles to four straight top-three finishes on the flat which included a tidy win at Nottingham in June.
The buzz among the Tipstrr community, however, is that Black Smoke could be primed to punch above his weight at a double-digit price after finishing a respectable sixth of ten (just two lengths off the winner) as a 25/1 shot over this course and distance 11 days ago.
Others might seem more persuasive at first glance, but this six-year-old gelding scored his maiden success in heavy ground at Lingfield in August, so there should be no concerns about him lasting this slightly longer trip.
It seems significant that Billy Loughnane takes Black Smoke’s reins for the first time for this, his 12th outing, and the in-form jockey teamed up with his father Mark as recently as Wednesday, when the stable’s last runner, First Company, won with a length in hand as a 16/1 shot at Kempton.
