Wolverhampton each-way racing tip: Sociologist poised to strike off lifetime low mark

This competitive 12-runner handicap has Tipstrr pundit Richard Hutchinson purring about the each-way prospects of a five-time winner who is lining up off a career-low mark.

It’s no surprise to see Reverberation attracting plenty of support at the top of the betting, and with all-weather specialist Rossa Ryan at the reins this eight-year-old should still be a threat under the four-pound penalty incurred after his cosy win at Chelmsford a week ago.

Robert Stephens’ Footsy is expected to offer the biggest challenge, but their short prices offer potential each-way value from the likes of Pysanka and Virtual Hug, while Hot Team looks an interesting prospect under Oisin Murphy.

However, it is the bottom-weighted Sociologist who has caught the eye of our tipster, who runs his Won Two Three Racing Tips service on Tipstrr, and offers the analysis below.

Today should be a good time to follow Sociologist - an eight-year-old gelding who has won five times over 11-13 furlongs from marks between 57 and 71.

Although winless for two years, the benefit of that dip in form is that we have seen his mark drop from 70 to 46, and he performed consistently last year where he postmarked between 52 and 61 in five of his seven runs during the main flat summer season.

A replication of any of those runs off this lowly mark would put him in with win or place prospects, especially from a favourable draw in stall 3 and jockey Elisha Whittington claiming a further five pounds off, netting the mark down to a lowly 41.

A significant factor in Sociologist's favour is that he tends to peak on his third run off a break (which he gets today). His form figures on his third run are 8611149, and he has already taken a step in the right direction after a decent fourth of 12 in a handicap over this course and distance eight days ago.

Considering he has only ever won five races, his third run is clearly the best time to follow him, especially since trainer Scott Dixon knows him so well and has learned how to peak his form.

Sociologist has been wearing blinkers of late but his last four wins all came when wearing cheekpieces, so this return to the latter is the final piece of the jigsaw that makes him worthy of each-way consideration, especially with four places widely available for this 12-runner handicap.
