Wolverhampton each-way tip: Ground Run best of the rest behind red-hot favourite

With just 13 previous outings between the 11 scheduled starters, this maiden stakes event looks like being a case of just how large the favourite’s winning margin is likely to be.

18:00 Wolverhampton: BetMGM It’s Showtime Maiden Stakes (1 mile ½ furlong)

A sparkling pedigree and a hefty 2.8 million guinea price tag makes Charlie Appleby’s Kalidasa the red-hot favourite to land this extended one-mile affair, and it will be a major shock if David Probert doesn’t enjoy a comfortable win under the highly-rated three-year-old.

His heavy odds-on price is one for serious bettors only, but it does open up the rest of the market significantly, with his ten rivals all holding arguably better value to make up the minor placings at a likely double-digit starting price.

Planet Sport Bet: Bet £20+ cash on any runner in the race and if Kalidasa wins by more than five lengths, get a £5 Free Bet

Although never wise to put too much trust in bookmakers’ odds in a race such as that, the five rank outsiders can probably be safely overlooked, which leaves us with five likely contenders for two frame finishing positions.

Bottom-weighted Pilgrim Of Culture looks one of the more interesting prospects, with Andrew Breslin’s three-pound claim enhancing this filly’s allowance even further, but it is the Loughnane team’s Ground Run that has received a nod of approval from the Tipstrr community.

Suggested best bet: Ground Run in the 18:00 at Wolverhampton

Although Mark Loughnane is not renowned for producing hot newcomers hot of the conveyor belt, Ground Run has plenty of family success to suggest he might hit the ground running on his career debut.

This Bated Breath gelding is brother to a couple of useful winners over six and seven furlongs, while three winning half-brothers and a dam who was successful over this trip further suggest that winning might well be in this three-year-olds DNA.

Mark’s son Billy Loughnane takes the reins, and on recent form should be well-equipped to get the best out this unknown quantity.
