Wolverhampton’s all-weather track takes centre stage for Saturday night’s racing action, which concludes with what appears to be a wide open six-furlong sprint.

With eight of the dozen starters likely to be sent off with double-digit price tags against them there’s clearly some each-way value to be found somewhere, but the feeling among Tipstrr’s pundits is that the four market principals are set to dominate proceedings here.

Buraback and Smasher have edged clear at the top of the betting, and both will be confident of adding to their last-time-out course-and-distance successes earlier this month, especially the latter who is now unbeaten in three outings over this very trip so far this year.

Mokaatil also won at this venue last month, albeit over the minimum five-furlong trip, since when he has twice  struggled when asked to go the extra furlong earlier this month.

All of which leads us to Savannah Smiles, whom we’ve backed before in both victory and defeat, and who looks in good shape to add to the back-to-back successes she enjoyed prior to her below-par effort at Southwell a fortnight ago.

Suggested best bet: Savannah Smiles each-way in the 20:30 at Wolverhampton

Excuses could be made for that setback, as she was left with nowhere to go two furlongs out and had no chance of making up the lost ground once the pace had quickened ahead of her.

We should perhaps judge her more fairly by her previous 1¾-length success over this course and distance two weeks previously, when a better-timed late run saw her command proceedings down the stretch to leave 11 very capable sprinters floundering behind her.

Perhaps most significantly of all, in-form jockey Rossa Ryan was in the saddle that night and is re-booked here, so his experience should again be a telling factor in ensuring that Savannah Smiles is given every chance in the final stages.
