Wolverhampton best bet (1900): Bay Of Naples lined up to see off reopposing rivals

Liam Keniry at Wolverhampton racecourse
Wolverhampton’s all-weather track provides Saturday evening’s racing action, and this mile-and-a-half handicap looks like one of the most competitive races on the card.

The likely contenders among the eight-strong field can probably be reduced to five if we discount the three outsiders, although Deborah Faulkner’s Villazon is something of an unknown quantity after just three outings and might yet be to produce his best.
With just three points between the five remaining market leaders, the Jamie Osborne-trained Hashtagmetoo looks a little uneasy wearing the early favourite mantle, although he is reunited with Saffie Osborne, who piloted him to victory over this course and distance just three outings ago in October.
Jumeira Vision also won here as recently as November, and although 10th of 12 last time out at Southwell, Archie Watson’s four-year-old could well be in the mood to bounce back under the three-pound allowance of Taylor Fisher, who won on board his only ride on Friday.
All the above will leave the stalls with realistic hopes, but our final nod goes to Bay Of Naples, who boasts figures of 213332 on his last six outings over the last five months.

Michael Herrington’s eight-year-old was a regular visitor to the winner’s enclosure in his early seasons, including here at Wolverhampton, and although successes have been harder to come by recently, his recent run of form suggests he is right back at the peak of his form and fitness.
A tidy win on Leicester’s soft ground in September was an ideal way to prepare for his return to synthetic tracks, and only the short-priced favourite got the better of him last time out at Southwell a month ago.
He finished comfortably clear of the reopposing Hashtagmetoo that day, with Jumeira Vision a further 18 lengths adrift, and although two pounds worse off with those rivals here, Ben Sanderson’s three-pound claim reverses that pull to give Bay Of Naples a great chance of returning to winning ways here.
Suggested best bet: Bay Of Naples in the 19:00 at Wolverhampton
