Horse racing aficionado is taking on the bookies and the conditions Saturday when he expects Astronomic View to chew up the heavy ground at Wincanton.

Astronomic View went very close to winning a 0-123 handicap under similar conditions at Bangor last month when he finished 2nd/6 over 23 furlongs on heavy ground.
The winner of that handicap, Tanganyika, has since run 3rd/8 in a higher-graded Class 2 contest off 4lbs higher to advertise the form.
Had that Bangor race been over today’s shorter trip, Astronomic View may have held on to win, so he should have a good chance of doing so off just three lbs higher.
Before that run, the seven-year-old had again finished runner-up, over 18.5f on better ground at Exeter, a combination that would have been a bit sharp.

His five runs on either heavy or soft ground have returned figures of 31332 with his win coming in a bumper on a right-handed track with heavy ground.
Lucy Gardner has ridden this seven-year-old in every race so far and the Gardner yard had a heavy-ground hurdling winner on New Year’s Day.
With this set of conditions guaranteed to suit this in-form hurdler, something that cannot be said with confidence about some of his rivals, Astronomic View looks a good bet.
