Southwell racing tip (1520): Jumping Jupiter to exploit conditions from perfect mark

Southwell racecourse
Horse racing aficionado Steve Jones is back with his take on the 14445 at Southwell this afternoon, where he’s backing Jumping Jupiter to get the job done.

The Pogson team of Charles and Adam have enjoyed more winners at Southwell than at any other track and Jumping Jupiter looks a good bet to add to their tally of course winners, especially with Robert Dunne back in the saddle.
Dunne was in the saddle for the six-year-old's last two runs before his latest break, which also incorporated a wind operation.
Those two outings, both of which were in maiden hurdles in February and March last year, were at today’s venue.
The partnership finished second over 16f and 3rd over 20.5f, producing Jumping Jupiter’s two career-best performances and proving that this tight, left-handed track is ideal for him.
Following those promising runs, the six-year-old had wind surgery before a 284-day break and returned to make his handicap debut at Doncaster (flat, left-handed) last month.
Given that he was returning from a lengthy absence, his third-place finish was a very encouraging effort in what was a higher-graded Class 4 novices’ handicap (on good-soft).
He looks sure to come on significantly for that return to action, for which he was completely unfancied in the market under a new rider, in which case he will have a big chance of winning back at his favourite track.
He runs from an unchanged mark with Dunne back in the saddle and the drop back in trip promises to suit.
This race looks very well chosen for the six-year-old, who has plenty going for him in today’s basement grade event.
Suggested bet: Back Jumping Jupiter to win the 14:45 at Southwell
