Tuesday's tips at Southwell

17:30 (Souhtwell) Apache Star

18:.00 (Souhtwell) Dreams Fled Away

18:30 (Southwell) Bearwith

19:00 (Southwell) Beau Gars

19:30 (Southwell) Johnny Thunder

20:00 (Southwell) Eleftheria

20:30 (Southwell) Easy Equation

17:30 (Souhtwell) Apache Star

Apache Star finished second on his previous three outings including beaten one length over course and distance in latest. May go one better in the Race By Race Southwell Specials @Planetsportbet Handicap.

Masterclass was a good second two runs back and held excuses attempting 6f next time. Return to this journey could suit.

Birkenhead is without a win this year. Only missed by a head when third recently and can be considered.

18:00 (Southwell) Dreams Fled Away

Dreams Fled Away is an interesting recruit for Barry Brennan and gets the nod to make a successful British debut in the Best Odds Guaranteed At PlanetSportBet Handicap.

The five-year-old really hit form for Shane Crawley in Ireland before making the switch to Lambourn, winning a couple of competitive Dundalk contests prior to finishing a close third of 14 there last month.

After being held up in the rear from a wide draw on that occasion, Colin Keane had to come round the outside when making his move and still did not enjoy a smooth passage up the home straight, so that effort can be marked up.

18:30 (Southwell) Bearwith

Bearwith made a pleasing return from a winter break when second at Newcastle last month and is taken to go one better in the Liz And Izzy’s Hoap Podcast Handicap.

Having signed off last season with a comfortable win at Beverley, Harriet Bethell’s six-year-old resumed on a career-high mark of 71.

However, that did not look a harsh assessment as he chased home the hat-trick completing Asgard’s Captain at Gosforth Park after attracting support at generous odds in the betting ring.

19:00 (Southwell) Beau Gars

Kynsa arguably looks the most interesting on his stable debut for Kevin Philippart De Foy in the Download The Planetsportbet App Handicap.

Soames Forsyte, Great Blasket and Streak Lightning will all have their backers, but somewhat ironically it is Jamie Osborne’s Beau Gars who looks to have a good chance of running his former stablemate close.

This lightly-raced four-year-old has acquitted himself well on his three subsequent outings, backing up a couple of frame finishes at Kempton with a best-yet third of eight over this course and distance 12 days ago.

He perhaps took charge a little too soon on that occasion, eventually headed by the high-rated favourite Lough Leane, but staying on strongly enough to suggest more could come from a better timed run.

19:30 (Southwell) Johnny Thunder

The dozen starters have experienced fewer than 20 previous races between them, so there is plenty of raw untested talent on display in the Read Harry Cobden’s Blog at PlanetSportBet Novice Stakes.

That would explain why seven of the 12 runners are available at 33/1 or greater at the time of writing, and it’s not easy to make a case for any of them, but if anyone fancies a punt on a one of the debutants hitting the ground running, then Mutaad, Joe Gargery and I Predict A Riot are the ones making their career bows.

More realistic prospects are to be found higher up in this top-heavy betting market that sees only the market leaders commanding a single-digit price, although Johnny Thunder looks the most likely of the others to make an impression if the any of the principals falter.

Third of seven over six furlongs on debut at Newcastle three weeks ago, the astute booking of Rossa Ryan raises his profile and his chances of making an impression here.

20:00 (Southwell) Eleftheria

There was a lot to like about the way Eleftheria got up late on to beat favourite Vicario at Chelmsford and that pair pulled five lengths clear of the nicely-bred Radiant Beauty in third.

Paul and Oliver Cole’s filly has taken a while to get the hang of things but may be worth following in the Get Emma’s Offers At PlanetSportBet Fillies’ Handicap now the penny has finally dropped.

20:30 (Southwell) Easy Equation

The early-morning withdrawal of the well-fancied Three Dons has tightened up the betting and also had a big impact on each-way prospects by reducing the field to just seven runners in the Bet On The Grand National at PlanetSportBet Handicap.

After kicking off the year with four straight frame finishes Foinix poses a threat under Jim Crowley, but the promising four-year-old remains winless in 11 outings and looks short of the quality required to beat the well-backed favourite, Easy Equation.

The capable six-year-old has been raced more sparingly since coming under the wing of Charlie Fellowes, and although yet to register a win for his new yard, he has made the frame on all three outings so far this term.

His best yet was last time out at Newcastle five weeks ago, when he kept on strongly under Danny Tudhope, but was never quite able to reach the winner.

That performance bodes well for this return to Southwell, where Easy Equation is a course-distance winner a year ago, and where he gave a good account of himself to come runner-up of 12 on his stable debut in December.

The first eight home in that 0-65 handicap were all rated higher than anything he will face in this lower 0-55 affair, and with the dependable Kieran Shoemark at the helm, he could give his connections some overdue success here.

Bet minimum £20+ cash on any runner in the race and if the qualifying terms are met, as detailed in the table at the bottom of the page, earn a £5 free bet for every £20+ cash bet, or a £20 free bet for every £100+ cash bet.
