Southwell each-way tip: Keep the faith with Broxi over shorter trip

Our friends at Tipstrr have been busy crunching their numbers in order to provide us with their most widely-tipped horse at the Thursday evening meeting at Southwell.

The betting market for this six-furlong sprint is virtually split in two between the four that are priced to reflect realistic claims, and the four relative outsiders, whom the bookies would have us believe are here merely to make the numbers up.
Of course, if betting were as simple as that, then we’d all be millionaires, and the short price of favourite Catesby does not look particularly appetising for a horse that has struggled to recapture the form that landed a course-distance victory here four outings ago in October.
His short price does boost the value offered by the other principals, Amber Dew and Trulie Good, but it is a horse lower down the betting that has created something of a stir both in the market and within Tipstrr’s community of each-way specialists.

It is 15 months since Broxi bookended a seven-furlong victory at this venue with two turf successes at Brighton, an eye-catching hat-trick which also caught the attention of the handicapper, and the Dean Ivory-groomed gelding subsequently struggled under the extra penalties.
After last season tailed off disappointingly, Broxi was given a six-month break as well as being switched to the yard of Ivan Furtado, who has been gearing his new charge up for shorter six-furlong sprints.
He reappeared last month, when his two efforts here either side of Christmas could possibly be written off as an introductory pipe-opening exercise after such a long lay-off.
Broxi is now down to his lowest mark since the first win of his 2022 three-timer, which is lowered even further by the seven-pound claim of promising jockey Elle-May Croot.
Having opened up at a hefty 33/1 on Wednesday night, that early price was quickly gobbled up, and the fact that Broxi's odds have dipped and stabilised at an across-the-board 12/1 might be seen as a sign that better things are just around the corner.
Suggested best bet: Broxi each-way in the 19:30 at Southwell
