Southwell each-way tip (1930): Absolute Dream to stun Stoic Syd

Stoic Syd leads the betting and he's coming into this one with real momentum, having bagged back-to-back wins at Kempton and at this course, albeit over a slightly longer trip.

Marco Ghiani is on the saddle once again, which is a solid booking, and he will be looking to add to his 13 wins in 2024 so far.

However, Stoic Syd's odds hardly scream each-way value and in a race where 10 are coming to post, the bookies will be paying out on three places. 

Ana Emaraaty is another last-time-out winner, when he won at Newcastle over a mile and the shorter trip could give him an advantage here. 

Porfin also looks to return to his 2023 form where he found the top three on 11 occasions, but he has had six outings since a 90 day break between August and November and his highest finish in that period was a fourth at Wolverhampton.

Our selection for this one is Absolute Dream, who has been in mixed form lately. 

Richard Fahey's eight-year-old is an experienced campaigner who had a poor run last time out at Newcastle, but had a good run before that at the same track, where he finished third. 

Oisin Orr will be riding Absolute Dream and they have previous experience as a partnership, with wins at Catterick, but those victories did come almost two years ago.

He does have experience over this course-and-distance, with back-to-back runs in January and they yielded mixed results, seventh in one and fourth in the other, finishing five and two and a quarter lengths behind the victor respectively.

Despite his mixed form, his experience could be key here and he be a contender as he is up against a young field
