The withdrawal of the strongly-fancied Blue Collar Lad has nudged the ten remaining runners up a notch in the betting to leave four market leaders separated by barely a couple of points.

However, the buzz in the Tipstrr camp should please those among us who like a morsel of each-way value to nibble on, and the Grace Harris-trained Savannah Smiles certainly seems to fit the bill here.

A three-month break following a fruitless summer campaign on turf appears to be paying dividends as this lively four-year-old filly has been making admirable progress on synthetic tracks since returning to action in January.

A couple of near misses at Lingfield (by a head and less than a length respectively) were soon put behind her when she landed a one-length success at the same venue barely a week later.

Better was to come on her most recent appearance at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago, when she left the nearest of her 11 rivals almost two lengths behind in a commanding performance that saw her switched out wide a furlong out and power clear, still going away at the line.

Rossa Ryan was on board that day, but returning regular jockey Callum Hutchinson was in the saddle for those other improving runs, and with his three-pound claim,  there’s nothing to suggest he won’t be able to coax a similar positive response out of Savannah Smiles here from a favourable inside draw.
