Newcastle racing top tip: Conditions tailor-made for bold bid from Kats Bob

Amateur jockeys take centre stage in Friday’s final race at Newcastle, and the word from the Tipstrr camp is that one of the runners down the betting is ready to pounce from beneath the bookies’ radar

With nine of the ten runners available at a single-digit price and with the market leaders at a vulnerable-looking 4/1, there’s clearing plenty in with a decent shout of landing this six-furlong sprint.
Tim Easterby’s bottom-weighted Object currently wears the favourite’s mantle, and although he shaped up reasonably well when second of eight at Nottingham three weeks ago, it is 14 outings since he last paid a call to the winner’s enclosure, and this introduction to all-weather tracks could be hit or miss.
At the other end of the market, if we discount Dark Kestrel as the rank outsider, then So Grateful could be a prime candidate outrun his price if able to rekindle the form that landed him a win at Pontrefact in July, although that was five outings ago and he is still seven pounds above that last winning mark.

There’s been a smattering of support for Rock Opera, but a majority of Tipstrr’s each-way specialists have gravitated towards Iain Jardine’s five-year-old gelding Kats Bob.
He appears to relish the Newcastle surface, having finished third of 10 over seven furlongs here in September, and then converting that promise to an eye-catching course-distance success on his penultimate outing early last month.
Kats Bob had to dig deep to hold off the nearest of 11 rivals by a neck, and he was again tested last time out three weeks ago when finishing a respectable fourth of nine in heavy ground at Redcar, less than three lengths off the winner.
He looks well treated at the bottom end of the weights, and with his jockey’s seven-pound claim factored in as well, he appears to hold realistic claims of a frame finish here..
Suggested bet: Kats Bob each-way in the 19:20 at Newcastle
