His victory at Kempton 23 days ago was a career-best and built on a handy second-place finish there 10 days earlier.

Cold Stare and Sir Maxi are closely priced in the market and they were closely matched when meeting here just one month ago.
It was Richard Fahey’s Sir Maxi who ran out the winner on that day and although he finished fourth, Cold Stare was barely two lengths behind and ran well.
He was miles off the pace initially and found himself at the back of the field early on, but motored through to apply some of the late pressure.
He’s four lbs lighter than Sir Maxi today so if he can find a better start and reproduce that form, he should be able to go much closer.
