16:30 (Newcastle) Skye Breeze
The steadily improving Syke Breeze won with something in hand over this distance at Southwell a month ago. Could prove up to tackling this rise in weights and level.
Two-time course winner Queen Of Ipanema is three from three attempting 1m4f and will appreciate stepping back up in journey after a pleasing fourth at Wolverhampton.
Beraz cannot be discounted on the back of a solid third-place finish contesting 1m2f at this venue.
Others to note include both Tenerife Sunshine and Furzig.
17:35 (Newcastle) Spartan Fighter
Spartan Fighter showed signs of a renaissance at Southwell last month and is one for the shortlist in the Stay Golden With BetMGM Safer Gambling Handicap.
He never quite lived up to his juvenile promise but has proved a fine campaigner for Anthony Brittain, winning six times at Gosforth Park, most recently off a mark of 80 in 2022.
Clearly his form has slipped since then, but lining up off 56 now, Spartan Fighter could show his winning spirit again.
18:35 (Newcastle) Likeashadow
Likeashadow has been knocking on the door of late and can deservedly go one better than when denied a nose attempting seven furlongs here last start.
Good Morning Alex failed to complete a hat-trick running third over course and distance just six days ago.
Clearly remains in good condition and must be greatly respected back down to Class Five company.
Others worthy of a mention are the unexposed Night Safari who was last seen finishing fourth on handicap debut tackling seven furlongs at Leicester last August and Due Consideration.
19:35 (Newcastle) Water Of Leith
Water Of Leith can record a second-course success following his victory tackling track and trip in December.
Crypto Quest won by a nose over course and distance and might be thereabouts resuming.
Similar comments apply to Latin Five who finished a close second here attempting the journey when last seen five months back.
Each-way claims go the way of Urban Dandy.
