Newbury each-way racing tips (1425): Docpickedme and Striking A Pose can defy outsider odds

Paint The Dream ridden by jockey Connor Brace clear a fence on their way to winning the BetVictor Greatwood Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire.
This stayers’ chase has really caught the collective eye of Tipstrr’s each-way pundits, who have gravitated towards a couple of (un)likely outsiders who might be ready to outrun their hefty prices.

Atlanta Brave has been installed as the warm favourite, and that looks justified after he impressed as a hurdler last winter and then marked his second attempt over fences with a decent runner-up spot at Exeter last month.
That said, his shortening price holds little appeal in a race of this nature, which brings in more attractive options further down the betting.
Surrey Quest looks good value on the strength of his season debut success at Huntingdon two months ago, while the recent form of Venetia Williams’ yard (35 winners and 36 places from 128 runners this season) means Laskalin has to be respected under Charlie Deutsch.

However, the biggest buzz in the Tipstrr camp has been caused by a couple of outsiders, whose credentials appear to fly in the face of their hefty prices.
The fact that long-term partner of Striking A Pose, Brendan Powell, has been replaced by Harry Cobden could be seen as a significant move for the prospects of Joe Tizzard’s seven-year-old.

Carrying a bottom-weighted outsdier is not a regular occurrence for Cobden, and the jockey is both realistic and optimistic about his chances aboard a proven performer who will line up carrying appreciably less than his last winning mark.

Another to have caught the attention of the Tipstrr community is the Richard Hobson-trained Docpickedme, who was a multiple winner in both jumping codes for Harry Whittington before switching yards last spring.
His yard and season debut saw the seven-year-old come within the length of the winning horse’s head of making a successful start at Warwick, and that gruelling run in heavy ground may have sapped enough resources to excuse his next effort at Haydock just a couple of weeks later.
He will be piloted by in-form Gavin Sheehan, who is fresh from riding Hewick to victory in the King George at Kempton, and who has guided 151 of his 310 rides into the each-way frame this season, including 60 winners.
With four places readily available (as many as five if you shop around) for this 11-runner race, there is definitely scope for some decent each-way value in what could be a thrilling wide-open handicap.
