Waltz Darling jumping and clearing the final hurdle during a race at Musselburgh racecourse, November 7, 2014

Back to Musselburgh for some more new year jumps action and the Planet Sport tipsters are on the hunt for more winners on Friday, January 5.

Let's get the ball rolling with some details on our selected horses at Musselburgh. Don't forget to check out the full racecard, results and live odds in Planet Sport's racing live centre.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

(Please be aware selections could become non-runners after article's first publication)

12.45 (Musselburgh) Chosen Templar

Chosen Templar is an interesting contender in the Tote Guarantee, Bet Smarter Maiden Hurdle.

The six-year-old was a bumper winner in Ireland before joining David Jeffreys and makes his hurdling debut having jumped fences in three pulled up point-to-point starts.

13:20 (Musselburgh) Grozni

Grozni can score for James Owen in the New Tote Multiples Only On-Course Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.

The gelding was previously trained in Ireland by both Charles Byrnes and Denis Hogan and finished second on his debut for Owen over three miles at Doncaster last month.

He looks like he will appreciate a return to two and a half miles as much of his best form is over that trip.

14:30 (Musselburgh) Sunday Soldier

Sunday Soldier has been going well including a seven length success in a course and distance mares handicap hurdle last month, so will be a leading chance.

Whitehaven handled testing ground at Bangor-on-Dee when second among similar company over 2m1f. Makes for appeal.

Percy Willis produced a good flat fourth attempting a handicap at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day and is of interest.

Uncle Arthur won a Ludlow novices claiming hurdle before a good Newcastle handicap hurdle third so will be in the mix.

15:40 (Musselburgh) Flaubert

Donald McCain’s Flaubert can come out on top in the Tote.Co.UK Back To Work Monday Open National Hunt Flat Race.

The six-year-old won an Irish point to point by 18 lengths and makes his debut under rules in the contest.
