Lingfield best bets (2040): Fullforward moving in the right direction, Largo Bay could surprise

Our friends in the Tipstrr office have run their number across Tuesday’s entire racecard in order to share their most widely-tipped selections in the very last race of the night at Lingfield.

20:40 Lingfield:  Tips For Every Race at raceday-ready.com Handicap  (1 mile 3½  furlongs)

Even under a five-pound penalty, warm favourite Laser Focus looks hard to oppose if he can reproduce anything like his performance when landing a nine-runner affair by five lengths at Windsor eight days ago.

Impressive as that was, James Owen’s six-year-old is untried over this longer trip, so if that extra weight proves telling, then it could open the door for a challenge from his closest market rivals, with Fullforward in particular gaining plenty of support both in the market and in the Tipstrr camp.

Fullforward’s two wins have been well spread throughout his 25-race career, with the most recent success coming over this distance at Windsor last August, when he kept on strongly to win by a neck.

He showed some form with a couple of runner-up spots in his five all-weather outings over the winter, before making his season turf debut at Windsor three weeks ago.

His mid-division finish could be excused by the heavy conditions, and he should prefer the sound of his hooves hitting Lingfield’s good-to-firm ground, as both of his turf successes came on good ground.

Suggested best bet: Fullforward in the 20:40 at Lingfield

Tipstrr’s each-way aficionados have been searching for decent outsider value, and their collective pin has stuck in the top-weighted Largo Bay, who also enjoyed a couple of decent all-weather victories at this venue earlier this year.

His most recent outing here 55 days ago is probably best forgotten and forgiven, as he was left out of position and forced to race wider than ideal from an outside stall.

If able to rekindle his earlier form from a more favourable draw in this lower-class 0-55 handicap, then usual rider George Rooke should be able to produce a run that belies their current double-digit price.

Each-way punt: Largo Bay each-way in the 20:40 at Lingfield
