Lingfield best bet: Short-priced favourite’s main threat is Unavailable

Anyone looking for an each-way punt might be drawn to the double-digit price of Moreginplease, who has yet to get off the mark in 16 attempts, but who might well give Darragh Keenan a decent ride from a dropping mark, with cheekpieces reapplied.

That said, if the bookies have done their calculations correctly, then most of the late running should come from the top end of the market, where early favourite Falmouth Bay appears to be the one to beat as he teams up with Rossa Ryan for the first time.

However, such a short price holds little appeal for a horse that has yet to open its account after six attempts, with the three-year-old yet to make it even into the first three, although he shaped up better in this year’s two most recent fourth-placed efforts at this venue.

Of more interest, and carrying a more attractive price, is Chelsea Banham’s young filly, Unavailable, who finished a couple of lengths behind Falmouth Bay in their last outing here a fortnight ago, and could be ready to reverse that result if able to replicate her form from earlier this term.

Prior to that effort, Unavailable had enjoyed four straight top-three finishes, the last two of which were over the minimum trip at this venue earlier in the year.

Promising regular rider Joey Haynes returns to the saddle, and the addition of first-time blinkers should help keep the filly focused enough to give another good account of herself in this slight drop in grade.
