Leicester racing tips (1708): Mrs Trump can bounce back, Viewfromthestars looking good

Leicester has served up a tasty card for us on Tuesday afternoon, and this lively-looking five-furlong sprint should give race-goers a thrilling finale to savour.

17:08 Leicester:  Ronan Keating Ladies’ Day 15th June Handicap  (5 furlongs)

The bookies appear to have marked this up as a two-horse contest, with Alfred Cove just about earning the favourite tag as he looks to build on three straight all-weather runner-up spots with a victory on his season turf debut.

Jack Doughty’s five-pound claim could help his cause, but standing in his way is Paul Midgley’s capable filly Mrs Trump, who marked her own turf debut with a tidy half-length win a month ago at Redcar, where she landed tasty 20/1 odds ahead of nine rivals.

She could only manage sixth when next (and last) seen at Ripon 16 days ago, but excuses could be made after she was hampered two furlongs out, plus all those who beat her were rated at least eight pounds higher than anything she will face in this line-up.

Mark Winn retains the ride having won two of his only three previous rides at this venue, and if he can keep Mrs Trump out of trouble, then he could well boost that impressive record with what is notably his only ride of the day.

Elsewhere, the chances of the bottom half of the eight-strong field appear to have been discounted by the bookies, but they might just get caught out by Viewfromthestars, who has gained some traction amongst Tipstrr’s each-way specialists.

It was 30th time lucky for Mark Usher’s game five-year-old, who finally broke his duck by the width of his nostrils in a 10-runner handicap on Chelmsford’s all-weather track in April.

Significantly, that was his first effort over the minimum five-furlong trip, and he could perhaps be forgiven for failing on his second attempt last time out a month ago, when he was clearly unsuited by Bath’s heavy conditions.

He should find Leicester’s improving ground much more to his liking, so in-form Georgia Dobie, who has steered three of her last 13 rides into the winner’s enclosure, could well coax another good run out of him here.
