Kempton top racing tip: The Bay Warrior can back up recent venue success

Kempton
The penultimate race on Kempton’s evening card offers one of the most competitive handicaps of the night, with most of the nine-strong field carrying realistic hopes of success.

The morning market suggests that Turner Girl is likely to be sent off as favourite, and five top three finishes in her last six outings suggest she is knocking at the door of adding to her last win in August, which was under the same claiming jockey Morgan Cole.
Lawmaker could be an interesting prospect since leaving Willam Jarvis for Michael Bell’s yard, although it might be a big ask to expect the thrice-raced four-year-old to come straight off a 13-month break to win on his stable and handicap debut.
There’s been a smattering of each-way interest in the Tipstrr camp for Hamnet, Head Of State and Cresta Cat, but our final nod goes to Mark Usher’s six-year-old, The Bay Warrior.

This experienced all-weather campaigner ended an eight-run barren spell at this venue 18 days ago, when edging in front of nine rivals, including fourth-placed Optik who has since stamped that form with two quickfire wins of his own.
His performance was all the more impressive for The Bay Warrior having been overly keen and meeting some trouble in the early stages, and then having to be shuffled around before staying on strongly to make his move close to home.
That success was in a 0-60 handicap and his two-pound hike puts him among much stronger 0-72-rated company here, but under the notable presence of David Probert (two wins from his last four rides), we can expect another decent showing here.
Suggested best bet: The Bay Warrior in the 20:00 at Kempton
