Kempton evening racing tips: Best bets for Wednesday, January 10

18:30 (Kempton) El Cordobes
El Cordobes let favourite-backers down on his first attempt but compensation awaits in the Unibet Novice Stakes.
The Godolphin colt is bred in the purple as a son of Frankel out of multiple winner Bold Lass and had plenty of supporters when he made his debut over a mile here last month.
Drawn 10 of 11 runners, William Buick pushed on early to get a decent position and that early effort perhaps told in the closing stages as El Cordobes dropped back from second to be beaten just over five lengths in fifth.
The outing should not be lost on him and Charlie Appleby’s charge can hit the mark at the second attempt.
19:00 (Kempton) Juan Solo
Juan Solo makes some appeal from a mark of 67 as he makes his handicap bow.
Sylvester Kirk’s charge had three juvenile starts last year, taking a step forward from an initial unplaced run as a 50-1 outsider to twice place in maidens at Wolverhampton.
He edges up to a mile from seven furlongs and might find the Unibet Zero% Mission Handicap more to his liking.
19:30 (Kempton) Birthday Angel
Birthday Angel outran his 40/1 odds on debut, with the first division of the Unibet Support Safe Gambling Novice Stakes looking well within his compass on that basis.
Related to both Flat and hurdles winners, Birthday Angel cost 105,000 guineas and made a fair start in coming home fourth at Lingfield, beaten three lengths by the well-regarded Mahboob.
Second-placed Verbier has since finished fourth in a Listed heat, so the form looks pretty sound.
20:00 (Kempton) Lartigue
Lartigue’s inexperience was a factor in his initial defeat at Wolverhampton.
He was beaten a length and a half by Whatatwit – a previous dual bumper winner – with his greenness when asked to challenge leaving him with far too much ground to make up in the straight.
The Unibet Support Safe Gambling Novice Stakes offers a fine chance of redemption.
