Kempton best bet: Bold bid expected from Autumn Angel off dropping mark

A relatively quiet day at the races is completed with a decent all-weather card at Kempton, where the last race of the night could well round off proceedings with a thrilling finale over six furlongs.

20:30 Kempton: Unibet More Extra Place Races Handicap (6 furlongs)

The four places that are readily available for this wide-open 12-runner handicap has brought Tipstrr’s outsider pundits out in force, with Neptune Legend and Simply Gorgeous both deemed worthy of each-way consideration.

However, the one to have caught our punters’ collective eye is Tony Carroll’s capable mare, Autumn Angel, who looks well-weighted to go well here off a kindly dropping mark.

Suggested best bet: Autumn Angel in the 20:30 at Kempton

A winner on the turf at Bath last July, this five-year-old looks even better suited to synthetic tracks, on which she has secured one win and four frame finishes in her nine outings since December.

Her latest success win was at Southwell in January, and although less fruitful since, her latest performance at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago suggested she could be back to her competitive best.

Although her last few outings , including her last success, she has been equally effective over this distance, and indeed the way she weakened in that last run at Wolverhampton suggests she prefers this shorter, sharper trip.

Rossa Ryan was given that last ride, but Molly Gunn has been in the saddle throughout the winter campaign, and her seven-pound claim will continue to be useful here, as will the fact that Autumn Angel is now a further three pounds lower than her last winning mark
