BLOW THE BUDGET (2) ran with credit at Ayr when fifth contesting a 2m novices hurdle. Open to further progress and makes for appeal.
BALLYQUIN BAY (5) showed ability a month ago at Newcastle when third in this handicap hurdle grade tackling 2m1f. In the mix. PENPAL (8) was a convincing Newcastle handicap hurdle winner last May. Interesting on seasonal return.
13:20 (Kelso) Choose A Copper
CHOOSE A COPPER (1) maintains a promising profile with a rules debut success by 3.5L at Hexham in a 2m soft ground novices hurdle preceding a last of three tackling a Listed novices hurdle at Sandown. Back down in grade and rates a top chance.
NAB WOOD (2) improved at Ayr when 2.5L second contesting a 2m novices hurdle in this class. Holds every chance.
ROB ROY MACGREGOR (4) ran with credit at Carlisle finishing fifth attempting 2m1f last month. Shortlist. CARRIGEEN KALI (7) may feature.
13:50 (Kelso) Artic Row
ARTIC ROW (11) impressed at Ayr when a comfortable 9L winner in a lower class 2m4f handicap chase. Leading player.
DUO D'ENFER (3) found success by 1.75L among this handicap chase company at Sedgefield on Boxing Day over 2m3f. Include.
MASSINI MAN (5) placed third on seasonal return at Carlisle in this grade tackling 2m before an unlucky fall here during November. Likely to bounce back. Makes for appeal.
DEEP CHARM (10) bids for a hat-trick following a pair of victories at Sedgefield and Musselburgh. Good chance.
14:20 (Kelso) Doyen Du Bar
DOYEN DU BAR (1) indicated plenty of promise in two hurdle starts with a good course and distance maiden hurdle second during October preceding a 5L victory in a 2m maiden hurdle at Ayr. Top chance.
RATTLING ROAD (8) caught the eye April 2022 when an impressive Irish point-to-point winner. Represents notable stable and makes for appeal on paper.
DREAM BOY (2) found success by 3.25L tackling a track and trip maiden hurdle on heavy going. Rates highly. MARCH WIND (12) hinted ability in two jumpers flat races last season. Interesting on hurdle debut.
14:50 (Kelso) The Churchill Lad
THE CHURCHILL LAD (3) maintains strong form with a Musselburgh handicap hurdle second beaten only a head before a 4.5L success in this handicap hurdle grade at Haydock over 2m. Top selection.
CRACKING RHAPSODY (4) won narrowly on testing ground at Hexham contesting a 2m novices hurdle before a Carlisle second. Holds claims.
RUSSIAN VIRTUE (5) bids for a hurdle hat-trick following victories at Carlisle on two occasions. Disappointed last week tackling the flat at Wolverhampton AW. Shortlist as set to bounce back.
BOIS GUILLBERT (1) was a course and distance winner three outings ago. Not to be discounted.
15:20 (Kelso) Red Happy
RED HAPPY (5) brings excellent winning form with three victories including the end of last year at Exeter and this venue over 2m6f alongside last month at Carlisle in this grade. Leading chance if at best.
SPECIAL RATE (3) produced a strong record in 2023 scoring five times. Below par on Boxing Day at Wetherby but steps up in trip. Can go close.
JET LEGS (7) found success by a head attempting a similar journey at Newcastle in a lower level novices handicap chase. Makes for appeal. Previous course and distance winner DESTINY IS ALL (6) is worth a second look.
15:50 (Kelso) Super Citizen
SUPER CITIZEN (3) was last seen under rules finishing a good fifth tackling a 2m6f handicap chase at Tramore (Ireland) last April. Serious player if at best.
TORNGAT (4) provided a good second in a similar event over course and distance last April. Holds every chance to go close.
FUGITIVES DRIFT (1) is worth a market check tackling this new level while returning after 336 days off. GAME OF WAR (2) could fill fourth spot.
