Ffos Las top tip: No Quarter Asked looking to take on veteran Templier

Ffos Las
The testing conditions at Ffos Las are sure to play a part in this two-mile chase, and that might open the door for one of the lower-weighted outsiders to challenge the more fancied principals.

Depending on how the market unfolds during the day, any of the top three in the market could go off as the bookies’ favourite, with course-distance winner Boston Joe clearly having the credentials, while Gambie Tiep has won four of his seven completed outings since joining Ben Pauling last spring.
However, they will need to run well to get their noses in front of veteran performer Templier, who backed up a win in similar conditions over this course and distance last March with another success on season debut at Fakenham in November, and although second of 13 last time out at Lingfield nine weeks ago, the 11-year-old looks nicely treated to go one better again off the same mark here.

For those who like to venture deeper into the betting for tastier each-way value, then more than half of the 11-runner field are currently available at a double-digit price, and those six outsiders are headed by the Sarah-Jayne Davies-trained No Quarter Asked.
This nine-year-old’s solitary success came at this venue back in June 2021, but there have been encouraging recent signs that he is ready to reacquaint himself with this course’s winner’s enclosure.
After being given just one run-out in 21 months following his move from the Bowen yard in February 2022, he ran gamely to come second of eight over this course and distance on season debut in November, and occupied the same runner-up spot at Leicester a month later.
Starting nine pounds out of the handicap proved too much when he was pulled up at the same venue three weeks ago, but he looks less out of his depth here, and the testing conditions should not be in issue as all three of his runs this term have been in heavy going.
While Davies’ yard is hardly prolific, the same can not be said for jockey Gavin Sheehan, who has piloted 20 winners and a further 17 places from his last 77 rides at this track (26% win rate, 48% place rate), so his first time aboard No Quarter Asked might just prove significant and fruitful.
