Doncaster each-way-tips (1535): Royal Infantry ready for battle, L’Allier could surprise at huge odds

Doncaster racecourse
The final race on Doncaster’s card sees the biggest field of the day go to post, with 18 largely untried newcomers competing in what could be a wide-open National Hunt flat race.
15:35 Doncaster: Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Open Maiden NH Flat Race (2 miles ½ furlong)
Indeed, this maiden bumper looks something of a pinsticker’s paradise (or nightmare!), with only half of the runners having a combined 11 previous track outings under Rules, although a few have additional point-to-point experience.
With so little form to go on, Off The Jury heads the betting after landing a point-to-point in April nine months ago, although fellow market principal Diamond Dice has arguably stronger credentials after putting a couple of decent bumper outings under his belt at Hereford (second of 13) and Cheltenham (fifth of 12) in the autumn.
In a race of this nature, there is no form book to turn on its head, so it would be no surprise for the winner to come from virtually anywhere in the betting.
One to catch the eye in the Tipstrr camp has been Royal Infantry, and any horse emerging from the Skelton yard has to be taken seriously.
He was also a point winner in Ireland last year, and as Dan Skelton saddles two runners here, it is perhaps significant that his son Harry has opted to ride this gelding rather than Ace Of Spades, who will be piloted by Liam Harrison.
Suggested bet: Royal Infantry each-way in the 15:35 at Doncaster
Anyone who likes a cautious (aka optimistic) flutter on a complete outsider might be interested to learn that the French raider L'Allier has gained some limited traction within Tipstrr’s each-way community.
Part of this might well be a result of Planet Sport’s racing ambassador Harry Cobden booked to ride a 100/1 outsider proving too much to resist, but it might also be that the five-year-old was far from disgraced when fifth of 11 on his only previous bumper start at Roscommon in August.
He has since switched from the Irish stable of Gavin Cromwell to come under the wing of Christine Dunnett in Norwich, although L’Allier’s £5000 sale price might be a hint at why he is available at a triple-digit price here.
Outsider punt: L’Allier each-way in the 15:35 at Doncaster
