Cheltenham each-way tip: Wonderful Eagle poised to swoop at a decent price

There’s plenty of decent hurdlers on show here, and one of Tipstrr’s leading pundits suggests there’s some decent each-way value to be found away from the market leaders.

All eyes here will be on Jonjo O’Neill’s warm favourite Springwell Bay, who is the only runner here to be making his season debut.
This capable six-year-old returns after a seven-month break, looking to rekindle the form that saw him win three novice outings last winter, before looking out of his depth in Grade 1 company at Aintree’s Grand National meeting last time out.

The favourite’s biggest threat is expected to come from Resplendent Grey and Gyenyame, while down the betting Planet Sport Bet racing ambassador Harry Cobden is cautiously optimistic about his chances aboard his Brian Ellison-trained ride, Tiger Jet.

However, our final nod goes to the selection of one of Tipstrr’s top pundits, Richard Hutchinson, who provides the analysis below as part of his Read Between The Lines service on Tipstrr.
Phillip Hobbs won this race four years ago and sends out the unexposed Wonderful Eagle who sneaks into this Class 3 event off 112 and bottom weight of 10st 2lb..
Wonderful Eagle has only raced three times over hurdles and won two novice events before making his handicap debut last time out off 108, when he was settled too far off the slow pace and stayed on without managing to reach the leaders.
Wonderful Eagle does have the benefit of flat experience and has a decent engine as he won a 10-furlong conditions race, postmarking a very healthy 102.
He was a little novicey on his first couple of starts, but Hobbs says he is slick at home, so improvement is very much on the cards and he should make up to be a 125-140 rated hurdler, especially with a bit of cut.
There is 7mm of rain expected overnight so the ground should be soft, good to soft in places, which will suit him well, suggesting that his 9/odds in a nine-horse race is a fair price for an each-way play.
Suggested bet: Wonderful Eagle each-way in the 15:30 at Cheltenham
