Chelmsford each-way racing tip: Jumira Bridge poised to bounce back at favourite venue

There’s a full card at Chelmsford’s all-weather track on Monday night, and this 13-runner handicap has Tipstrr’s each-way pundits rubbing their hands in gleeful anticipation of a wide-open race.

The bookies don’t quite see it the same way, and have installed Michael Appleby’s Fantasy Navigator as the warm favourite, and although this four-year-old has the notable presence of Rossa Ryan on board, he has done little to suggest his odds are good value.

However, if nothing else the market leader’s short price has opened up the rest of the market for each-way value elsewhere, especially four places widely available, and even as many as five in some quarters.

Tilsworth Only Ta, Archellino’s Gift and Moveonup have all shown previous winning form that suggests they are capable of performing better than their last-time-out efforts, but just shining a little brighter is the old man of the field Jumira Bridge.

This Derek Shaw-trained nine-year-old has won ten races in his busy career, with three of those successes coming over this course and distance, including on his penultimate appearance two months ago.

On that occasion he overcame a slow start, responding well under today’s jockey Jonathan Fisher, who coaxed him to make good headway two out, from where he kept on strongly to take the lead half a furlong from the line and win with a comfortable length and a half in hand.

A combination of factors could excuse his display last time out at Wolverhampton 19 days ago, not least being forced to run wide after being poorly placed coming off the bend, and despite again rallying well, he had to settle for coming a never-nearer fifth of 12.

He now returns to his favoured track, and if his rider can do better work to ease him into a better position ahead of the run-in, he clearly has all the credentials to be a serious threat to the favourite and a great chance of landing some each-way profit.
