Bath each-way tip: Monks Mead to defy the odds

While all eyes of the racing world will be on York's Dante meeting, there's plenty of action elsewhere including this competitive handicap at Bath which has attracted the interest of the Tipstrr camp.

18:40 Bath: Yeeehaaa.Bet Handicap (1 mile)

Hatadora is the one to beat in the betting, with Richard Hannon's filly in fine form coming into this one.

A victory at Windsor 16 days ago was preceded by a second at the same track and three starts ago she was fourth at Kempton, so she has been improving with every race.

However with 14 coming to post and places on offer, we think there's better value elsewhere.

If your a fan of a certain fleet-footed French footballer then you're in luck as Mbappe is a contender for Mark Loughnanne.

Last time out, the gelding won on the all-weather at Kempton and beat the aformentioned Hatadora while at it, so we know he has the calibre to perform against this level of company.

However, the Tipstrr camp are opting for each-way contenders and our selection is Monks Mead.

Mark Usher's three-year-old has form when it comes to winning as an outsider as he won a seven-furlong sprint at Lingfield last year with a starting price of 150/1.

He's backed that up with good performances on the all-weather this winter, which included a win at Chelmsford and he resumes after a three-month break here.

As well as a track record of winning he has previous course-distance form, finishing second in a handicap last September when he was two lengths behind favourite Go Your Own Way.

Apprentice jockey Alicia Perkins is in the saddle and will be looking to claim her first frame finish, while Usher's yard has boasted some good form this year with an 11 percent strike rate and a host of frame finishes, as 41 percent of his runners have found the first three.

While there may be horses of a better calibre in the field, Monks Mead's odds of 10/1 have the potential to land punters an each-way profit.

Suggested best bet: Monks Mead each-way in the 18:40 at Bath
