Bath best each-way bet: Eye Of The Water can defy outsider odds at preferred venue

There’s a decent card to enjoy at Bath on Friday night, where the stage is set for this competitive one-mile handicap that could well see the market leaders not having things all their own way.

19:15 Bath: Dragon Symbol Standing at Whitsbury Manor Handicap (1 mile)

With many seasonal debutants among the 13 starters, it’s no surprise to see top weight Three Yorkshiremen heading the market after crowning a busy winter campaign with a cosy win at Chelmsford last weekend.

He could well replicate that performance here, but the quick turnaround under a five-pound penalty makes his short price appear vulnerable, and there is certainly more attractive value to be found elsewhere.

Raqraaq and Johnjay are both expected to acquit themselves well on their seasonal reappearance, while it's also worth monitoring the prices to see if the capable Snapcracklepop gains any traction in the market.

The final nod from our friends at Tipstrr, however, goes to the Ronald Harris-trained Eye Of The Water, who has been known to save his best for the Bath track in recent times, and certainly knows his way to the venue’s winning circle.

Suggested best bet: Eye Of The Water in the 19:15 at Bath

Nine of his 12 turf runs last season were at the Somerset track and they yielded two wins over this very trip, plus three further frame finishes in between.

The most recent win last August saw five oh his six nearest rivals rated higher than any of the 0-65 company he faces here, and he managed to hold off their late challenges with some aplomb.

While neither jockey nor trainer have been churning out wins so far this term, their record at Bath is notably better, so between them and their track-loving eight-year-old, they could well out-race their double-digit odds here.
